75% of female executives struggle with the Imposter Syndrome
Forbes revealed that 75% of female executives wrestle with the imposter syndrome. The Imposter Syndrome is a “feeling of inadequacy and self-doubt that makes them continuously doubt if they are qualified enough for the job.” (Forbes)
This insecurity in women, who make up 56.8% of the workforce, (U.S. Bureau of Labor) indicates that women don’t simply need to ‘think positively,’ as this confidence crisis isn’t only leading to women questioning their abilities to lead. McLean Hospital reported that, “People who struggle with impostorism are more likely to experience anxiety and depression.”
At She Overcomes, we’ve specifically written curriculum around overcoming this insidious problem that directly impacts the majority of women in business today.

Women won't apply for a job or promotion unless they are 90-100% qualified for a job.
According to a Hewlett Packard internal report as reported on by Harvard Business Review, and Lean In, The Confidence Code, women will many times only apply for a job or promotion if she meets 90-100% of the qualifications, whereas her male counterparts will apply when 40-60% qualified. This lack of courage indicates an issue of insignificance or an ideology around being worth consideration.
While there’s much research out regarding why women won’t apply, there’s a fundamental mindset keeping women small, overwhelmed and voiceless in professional and personal circles alike.

Social isolation is leading to more anxiety and depression at home and in the workplace.
In May of 2023, the New Surgeon General Advisory raised alarm about the devastating impact of the “Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation in the United States.” Dr. Vivek Murthy shared that we are in a “public health crisis of loneliness, isolation, and lack of connection in our country.” This disconnection or isolation affects mental, physical and societal health. Dr. Murthy continued, “In fact, loneliness and isolation increase the risk for individuals to develop mental health challenges in their lives, and lacking connection can increase the risk for premature death to levels comparable to smoking daily.”
